Google is a bit evil.

Google has agreed to pay $7,000,000 to 38 states because their Street View cars went on a wardriving spree taking the wifi data from all open networks. Let’s cut the bullshit. Google knew exactly what they were doing the whole time. The technicians receiving the data KNEW how much data they should be receiving but were receiving way too much data.
Instead of stopping the project and reworking the code, which would delay implementation of the program, they decided to carry through with it and steal all possible data. This is very immoral and unethical behavior of the managers of the project.
Google has also agreed to start a nationwide campaign about the benefits of securing your networks. Google, the only people we need to be securing our networks from are YOU! Honestly, if someone is walking by and casually wants to use my internet to post on Facebook that is fine. If someone has the capability and skill to capture my data they also have the capability to break any of the encryption techniques on the market today, which is why I am not concerned about securing my network from the casual wardriver.
What I fear is you, Google. A company that doesn’t have the ethics to stop a program that is behaving as unintended. Especially when you are downloading tons of personal information about people, people whose personal information you depend upon for survival as a company.
